| Consistent with the theme of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) position paper on professional autonomy, ADA has developed a Pilot Mentorship Program, pairing students from three selected educational institutions with committed ADA members to create an ongoing mentor relationship. This program will foster one-to-one relationships geared at nurturing the development and potential of a future generation of audiologists.
For the student being mentored, it will provide:
- Exposure to professional autonomous audiologists
- Exposure to private practice ownership
- Networking opportunities not always found in their educational institutions
- Continuing education opportunities geared towards professionalism, ethics, business, and practice ownership
- Professional sounding board and advocate as they transition into the profession
For the student being mentored, this program will provide:
- The opportunity to be involved in nurturing and guiding the next generation of doctoral level professionals into our Audiology
- Exposure to new clinical and professional approaches
- Networking opportunities not always available to ADA members
- Potential employee, partner or exit strategy opportunities
The ADA Mentoring Committee and the ADA Board of Directors are committed to this program, and to ensuring that it is a win-win-win for the student, the academic institution and the mentor.
ADA seeks your participation in order to make this program a success--please make the commitment today to serve as a mentor and help shape the future of our profession!
